This school started in 2007 with only 8 children. The purpose was to care for children of the very poor. Most of the children were born to single, young women who became pregnant and could not complete their studies. Many children were left with their grandparents who often could not afford to feed them.
Today Bernhard Bendel Nursery School has 55 children. It is located in Mzuzu Diocese, Malawi. Having a good preparation for primary school will give these young ones a better chance at success. They are given nutritious meals to ensure good development. Providing safe and loving care will allow young mothers the opportunity to continue their schooling or seek employment. Extended family is given the relief from the extra work and expenses of caring for those left to them. The school struggles to make ends meet with concerns of feeding the young ones and paying the caregivers.
If caring for the youngest children is your passion, please consider donating to this cause. Your donations will help keep the aid flowing to these preschoolers. Nursery school tuition is only about $50.00 “per year, but it is still a hardship for the very poor.
